A big THANK YOU to the LaFayette Coed Softball league for its very generous donation.
Ski Program: LCC chaperoned evenings have ended, however, pass holders can continue to ski for the remainder of the season according to the restrictions of their respective passes.
Winter sports: NY state considers basketball, wrestling, and volleyball “high-risk” sports. These sports are delayed indefinitely; it is likely these “higher risk” sports will be postponed until late spring and summer. LCC continues to evaluate how we can safely conduct these “higher risk” sports, and we need your help to do so. We need to repopulate the board and membership. If you are interested and invested in assuring quality programs are available for LaFayette residents, please contact LCC.

LCC policy and requirements for coaches
LCC is continually developing a Youth Protection Plan. The first component of this plan is the "Policy and Procedure for Volunteer Coach Selection." Requirements under the policy include: current certifications in CPR/AED with first aid, coaching certification and a background check.
The process entails completing an LCC coaching application and a consent form allowing LCC to conduct the background check. Currently, these requirements apply to each sport and season, although a shorter renewal form has been developed if coaching more than one sport in the same year.
Obtaining a background check has become a trend in light of several incidents that have occurred nationally. New York State's Comptroller, Thomas P. DiNapoli, has urged that checks be conducted on all individuals involved in the "delivery of youth services" in order to ensure the safety of children participating in those programs, as well as limit liability.
LCC sponsors and pays for required training. In the event that an individual cannot attend an LCC sponsored training session, LCC will reimburse costs to an individual obtaining training at a different, previously approved venue. LCC covers the costs of the background checks as well. The current coaching certification is only offered online, therefore coaches must pay and complete then may seek reimbursement.
